Today I was going to give you the big news: whether we're gestating a Boy Bumble or a Girl Bumble. We've been unofficially waiting for this day to "get started" with the whole baby thing - registering for "stuff", organizing and decorating the nursery, calling the child By Name...
But today we learned that Baby Bumble is as stubborn a napper as Mummy, as evidenced by the fact that Baby Bumble insisted on sleeping face down through most of the anatomy ultrasound. The test clearly showed that Bumble is a "good size", has a strongly beating heart, and the most perfectly grapefruit-shaped cranium a parent could hope for. For the rest of The News, including whether to buy frilly dresses or mini-sports jerseys, we have to return in two weeks.
Strictly anecdotally: The doctor, when pressed to give an impression based on what little Bumble was sharing, said he would "guess" it's a Baby Girl. Hopefully we will Know after our next visit.

Girl: Donna Jo
Boy: Joe Don
Posted by: Aunt Donna at September 20, 2005 09:19 PMI think you should just keep the name "Bumble", it cracks me up. ;) Maybe not so good for the littl'uns though.
Posted by: Dave at September 20, 2005 11:37 PMNew wives' tale: Drink a big bottle of Mt. Dew an hour before your next appt. It works....it wakes the baby up and gets him/her moving!
Posted by: Lauren at September 21, 2005 09:16 AMFirst name to begin with P.Middle name to begin with B.Jose being the last name, the initials would be P.B.J.,and who doesn't love peanut-butter/jelly !Yep,another food analogy!Time for a snack............

This is the best news. A little bird told me the good news and well I had to check out your blog to catch up. Boy or girl, this child will be lucky to have you both as parents.
Dana
totally agree with the mountain dew thing....worked for both of my little guys. both of mine were doing summersaults while waiting in the ob's office for the ultrasound. i swear it works. time it right, though. drink it about 30-45 minutes before your exam. also, at church on sunday, i met a newborn baby boy who was supposed to be a baby girl....pink room and pink clothes. apparently, his jewels were hidden during the ultrasound, and the parents were told "he" was a "she" :)
(don't worry, this is NOT common!)
congratulations on the bumble, melissa and thank you for sharing this wonderful news with us :)
