Horribly dramatic sciatic PAIN radiating through my lower back, day two... The Internet says this is not unusual during pregnancy, then goes on to say disheartening things like "studies show such pain generally lasts less than six months..." (note to self: Don't become a person who relies on The Internet for medical diagnosis; within 20 minutes the search engine will convince you it's a fatal disorder.) I've tried/am trying heating pads, lying still, stretching, warm baths, complaining loudly, and [limited doses of] Tylenol, but if you have any other suggestions, can you please leave them in the comments below or email me? I'll be lying right here, making pathetic whiney whelping noises, waiting to hear from you.
Posted by rightmoon at September 9, 2005 02:36 AMTry cold packs instead of heat. You want to reduce inflamation, heat will encourage it.
It worked for my husband.
Feel better!
chiropractor...massage...the laying on of hands...
Posted by: mom at September 9, 2005 12:59 PMchiropractor= back quack,to be avoided at all times.Stretching, ice for no more than 20 min. every couple of hours, consult your OB-GYN.Your pelvis will continue to widen as the birth canal readies for delivery,as this happens new sensations(pain) will appear all over.Yep,your skeleton is gonna move all around and take things with it,and your body is dumping hormones all over the place like syrup on a stack of pancakes.Did I use a food analogy?Timt to eat again!
Posted by: Genghis-jon at September 9, 2005 06:08 PMisn't it great to have a nurse in the family?
Posted by: mom at September 10, 2005 10:33 AMI have a suggestion........be thankful you do not have to work while being pregnant. At least you have the opportunity to rest and relax when you feel like it and need it. Some of us did not have that luxury. I remember being so very sick/vomiting/nauseous every day all day with Alex, but having to go teach my students every day regardless. I would just tell the kids, "Kids, I have to go throw up now.............I'll be right back." I'll nver forget it. It really sucked. All I wanted to do was lay down.
